John M. Stroff Jr.

John M. Stroff, Jr. 49, died suddenly, Sunday, December 8, 2013 at his home in Wallington, NJ. While John’s years on Earth were cut short, he lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed the ride, mostly atop his Harley Davidson. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast and ultimate music fan. His passion lied in hunting and fishing, and following The Who, Rush and Umphrey’s McGee throughout North America. He was best known for his bright blue eyes, his booming laugh, passion for life and his unrelenting spirit. He was a gift to all those that knew him and were lucky enough to have been loved by him. John was born in Passaic, lived in Wallington most of his life, recently moving back earlier this year. He was a 1982 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Rutherford. John was a Pharmaceutical Operator for Hoffman LaRoche in Nutley, and most recently a Senior Aseptic Technician at Genzyme in Ridgefield from 1997 to present. He was a proud member of the N.R.A., a New York State Registered Hunting and Fishing Guide, and a Coast Guard Captain. John gained his love of the outdoors and honed his hunting skills from his father, the late John Stroff. John enjoyed many years of hunting throughout the northeast, northwest and British Columbia. While his trophy prizes were deer, elk, moose, wolf, antelope, black bear, mountain goat and sheep, John valued above all, the friendships and camaraderie he shared with his fellow hunters throughout the years. He was a member of several hunting clubs, active in many on-line forums, and loved teaching the next generation of outdoor enthusiast, conservationists, hunters, and fishermen. John is the loving son of Sally (Devins) Stroff of Suffern, NY, and the late John M. Stroff, Sr., dear brother of Susan Giella, and her husband John, of Suffern, NY, Michael Stroff, and his wife Debra, of Hoboken, Christina McGuigan, and her husband Chris, of Rumson, the late Lawrence Stroff (2/13), and his wife Laurel Stroff, of Hillsborough, NJ, and Sally Ann Cimmino, and her husband Daniel, of Arlington, VA. John was also loved by his 9 nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
