Marianna Rutkowski

Marianna Rutkowski (nee Dobrygowska), 84, of East Rutherford, NJ, passed away peacefully in her home on June 3, 2025, surrounded by her daughters. She lived a remarkable life and will be greatly missed by all those whose life she graced. Marianna was an unrelenting source of positive energy and found joy in time spent with loved ones, caring for them in countless ways. She taught her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the value of coming together for holidays and celebrations, because nothing was more important than family. Marianna spent her early years with her family in Milewskie, Poland, and moved to Warsaw after high school to work as an optician. She then met her husband Kazimierz, and after a whirlwind courtship, the young couple embarked on the adventure of a lifetime, moving to the United States in 1964. They lived in Jersey City before buying their first home in Wallington and eventually settling in East Rutherford. While raising her daughters, Marianna worked as a sewing machine operator in Passaic, and later served as a patient transporter in a local hospital. Throughout her retirement, Marianna continued to work in service of others- helping to raise her grandchildren, fiercely and quietly tending to the needs of so many-her neighbors, her Church, her tenants, and her family. Marianna was a devout parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church in Wallington, a member of the Polish Rosary Society, and an avid participant in activities hosted by the town senior center, especially its weekly yoga and Zumba classes. She was a voracious reader and loved chatting about novels with her unofficial bookclub-typically her brothers, neighbors, and friends. The town library had Marianna on its VIP list, setting aside her favorite authors' latest in a special priority pile for her. Marianna loved to travel, going on adventures that included the Holy Land, Italy, Portugal, Spain, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Hawaii, and the west coast. She enjoyed time at the Jersey Shore, especially annual family vacations in Cape May. Marianna was the beloved wife of the late Kazimierz Rutkowski, the devoted mother of Donna Majdosz (Joseph), Holly Rutkowski, and Barbara Eustice (John), the caring grandmother of Jennifer Genau (Joseph), Ania DeCola (Todd), Jessica Polmann, Alicia Rutkowski, and Jack, Arianna, and Sebastian Eustice. Marianna was also the doting great-grandmother of Alina, Izabela, Renata, Mina, Bryce, and Forest, and the dear sister of Romuald, Tadeusz (Wanda) and Krzysztof (Regina) Dobrygowski, and the late Kazimierz, Grazyna, and Jozef Dobrygowski. Marianna was the loving aunt of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation on Sunday from 2-5 PM and Monday at 9 AM at the Kamienski Funeral Home, 106 Locust Ave Wallington. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10 AM at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church in Wallington and the interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
