Mary Spada Ficarra

FICARRA, Mary (nee Spada), 87, of Wallington, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 13, 2014, surrounded with the love of her family. Mary was born in Passaic and lived most of her life in Wallington. She was predeceased by her husband Matthew Ficarra, Sr., her two younger sisters, Joan Ungar and Clara Dobrowolski, and her brother Robert Grant. She is survived by her devoted son, Matthew Ficarra, Jr., and his wife Janice, and cherished grandchildren, Cynthia Corn, and her husband Steven, Kevin Ficarra, and his wife Cristina, and Alex Fujii. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary was a lifelong parishioner of the Wallington Presbyterian Church, was the Clerk of Session, Elder, and Deacon. An avid community leader, she was a former Secretary and Vice President of the Wallington P.T.A., former secretary and Vice Prsident of the Wallington Home and School Association, a member of the Wallington V.F.W. Pavlick Koster Post 2640 Ladies Auxiliary, and Secretary of the Juvenile Conference Committee. Mary worked in management for Deluxe Cleaners in Clifton for over 50 years. Her life was centered around her family, friends, and her faith. She devoted countless hours helping her community and her church. She will always be known or her amazing cooking and baking. Visitation will be held Monday, February 17th, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, at the Kamienski Funeral Home, 106 Locust Avenue, Wallington. A funeral service will be celebrated Tuesday, February 18th, 10:00 AM, at the Wallington Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson.
