Raymond Edward Gierek Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Raymond Edward, 86, Ray or otherwise known as Mr. "G", of Lodi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Passaic, Ray graduated Holy Rosary Grammar School and Passaic High School. He is also one of the original members of the Holy Rosary Young Men's Club, and enlisted in the N.J. National Guard Reserves. From an early age he worked with his father in the family business and later became the owner of Gierek Iron Works. For the past several years he worked for the JP Patti Roofing Company in Saddle Brook, and loved his co-workers and job. Ray was an avid N.Y. Giants baseball fan and after their move to the west coast he became a Mets fan. He enjoyed playing and watching golf. Ray also enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool with his buddies. He enjoyed reading the Bergen Record from cover to cover and completed the Jumble word search daily. Ray loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed Spring Lake and vacationed at the Pan American Hotel in Wildwood Crest with his family and friends for over 50 years. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Sophie (nee Janusz), his son Gregg, and his wife Pattie, of Sea Girt, and his daughter Donna Gierek, and her companion Joseph Bilotta, of Hackensack. He is the proud grandfather of Ryan, of Sea Girt, who affectionately called him Pa. Ray is also survived by his sisters, Irene Jeyowski, Hermina "Minnie" Sippie, Jean Monteleone, and his brother Ronald Gierek. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
