Wanda Peters

Wanda Peters, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, at the age of 89. Her life was one of devotion, resilience, kindness, and unwavering love for those closest to her. Born on June 14, 1936, in the small village of Malków, Poland, Wanda was the beloved daughter of the late Jozef Staniszewski and the late Janina (Blaszczyk) Staniszewska. At the age of fourteen, she moved to Lódz, Poland, where she continued her education and began building the foundation of a hardworking and purposeful life. After marrying the love of her life, the late Telesfor Adam Peters, the couple made their home in Kolumna Town, Poland, where they shared many years together. Wanda was employed for many years as a Railway Crossing Guard with the Polish Rail Company. She took great pride in her work and remained dedicated until her retirement in 1985. Following the passing of her husband in 2009 and changes in her health, Wanda moved to the United States in 2011 to be with her loving daughter, Dorota. She made her home in Lodi, New Jersey, where she was surrounded by the care and comfort of family. In her final years, she resided at Maple Glen Center in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Wanda found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and baker whose kitchen was always filled with warmth, delicious aromas, and welcoming hospitality. She loved hosting family gatherings, creating treasured memories around the table. She also enjoyed knitting, embroidering beautiful works by hand, and spending quiet moments reading. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Dorota Peters; her loving grandchildren, Michal Peters, Magdalena and her husband Jakob; and her treasured great-grandson, Dawid. Along with her husband and parents, Wanda was preceded in death by many loved ones who welcomed her into eternal rest. Wanda will be remembered for her gentle heart, strong spirit, and the endless love she gave to her family. Her presence brought comfort, her hands created beauty, and her memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Private cremation services will take place in the United States. A memorial service and interment will be held in Poland at a later date.
